High School Math Live began from a homeschool mom's desire to provide home educated students with access to live, interactive online math instruction with excellent teachers who clearly communicate mathematical concepts.
20162017 Classes:
For the 17 years that I (Brenda) have been a homeschool mom, I have tutored many students and talked to many parents about secondary math education. The truth is, preparing students for collegelevel math is difficult. Most homeschool curriculum is not adequate to truly prepare students for collegelevel coursework. Outside classes very frequently require significant involvement from parents in the areas of homework help, grading, accountability and driving!
High School Math Live is a convenient solution to all of these issues. Each class period begins with time for the students to ask questions about the homework assignment, so the parents do not need to answer daily questions. Each week, a quiz or a test is sent to the parent. The parent proctors the quiz/test, but sends it back to us for grading. We grade the work and then communicate with the student (and parent) about their progress. Students should expect to spend between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours on homework assignments between classes.
We are completing our fourth year of classes and I am very pleased with the students' success. We cover more material with deeper comprehension in these online classes than I ever did when I taught in a public school system. Consider us your math solution!
