Calculus I Course Description
The prerequisite for this course is Pre-Calculus with Trigonometry including a clear understanding of the unit circle. Calculus is the study of change and motion. Our problems "move" which makes the study of Calculus exciting and engaging. We discuss limits, derivatives, applications of the derivative, integrals and their applications, and an introduction to differential equations. This course equates to a semester long Calculus I course at most colleges and universities. Even though we cover a college level course over an entire school year, the pace is still brisk. This is a challenging course that uses a college level textbook, written by James Stewart, which includes all the necessary concepts to prepare for a rigorous college calculus class. We offer both Calculus I and AP® Calculus AB.
Calculus I students will take the class with the AP® Calculus AB students unless enrollment numbers change. Calculus I students will have a different syllabus (omitting some AP type questions) and different assessments but will learn the concepts at the same pace as the AP® Calculus AB students. Calculus I students will finish the course mid April where AP® Calculus AB students will continue till the week prior to the AP® Calculus AB exam.

Technology and Supplies:
Classes are held virtually via Citrix GoToMeeting. Instructions to attend class will be posted on the the teacher's class page. Your student will need a computer, headset with microphone, and good internet connection. |
