I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics with a minor in secondary education from the University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. I have held public school teaching certificates in Kentucky completing my student teaching requirements through the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS)) and in New Hampshire with a permanent teaching certificate from Massachusetts. I have spent over 20 years in both private and public high school mathematics classrooms working to instill a love and appreciation of mathematics. Prior to joining High School Math Live (HSML), I spent 16 years in a private Christian school developing the mathematics department from the high school’s opening to becoming the department head and lead math teacher.
My husband Greg and I relocated from New Hampshire back home to the southeastern USA (in Kentucky) in 2014. My husband Greg and I have four adult children which are scattered across the eastern USA and one in heaven. Students may hear about them when their careers have used some of the geometry facts and logic. While relocating from New England back to the South I joined the HSML teaching team focusing on Geometry and Finite Math.
This year I'm looking forward to continuing to teach geometry with the additional class of applied geometry. I love to give students the insights on how the world around is geometric in nature.
Parents Tell Us:
My son has been in High School Math Live's Geometry class with Mrs. Combs. This was an excellent decision for our family. Mrs. Combs has a wealth of experience teaching students in math. She is a patient, thorough and great teacher. Prior to finding HSML, my son was really frustrated in math and it has been so neat to see him becoming confident Mrs. Combs' class. Mrs. Combs is genuinely concerned about her students. She cares about what they are interested in and treats them with great respect. She always gets back to us fast with our questions or comments. My son enjoys the class a lot and looks forward to it. He has gone from dread to seeing his test scores to excitement that "he's got this"! After each test, we thoroughly appreciate that she carefully goes over each question. Students know exactly why they missed something and how to do it correctly next time. Lastly, Mrs. Combs is the perfect combination of professional and personal. The students get to know her a little, too and what is going on in her life. When our semester is over, I can say that we will truly miss Mrs. Combs! She has been an absolute joy and I highly and enthusiastically recommend her."

My son very much enjoyed his year in Mrs. Combs' Geometry class. He appreciated being able to go back and correct problems he missed on quizzes and tests, because that helped him to gain understanding of things that he had mis-remembered. He also really liked the interactive aspects of class. I enjoyed watching him grow in knowledge and skills throughout the year and work hard to succeed. Mrs. Combs provided clear communication about all aspects of the class and was very pleasant to work with. Parent from KY
