About Mrs. Miller
About my education/teaching experience:
Donna Miller has over 23 years of teaching experience and holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from
the University of California, San Diego. After stepping away from the engineering field to raise her four
children, she returned to the workforce as a mathematics educator.
Donna has taught in a wide range of settings, including private and public high schools, college, junior college, and
homeschooling. She has instructed and tutored students in every mathematics course from Algebra I
through AP Calculus BC and beyond.
She has extensive experience working with AP Calculus students and most recently served as an AP
Calculus Reader, deepening her understanding of how AP exams are graded and how to best prepare
students for success. Her students consistently perform at a high level: in 2024, 100% of her AP Calculus
students earned scores of 4 or higher, and in 2025, 83% earned scores of 4 or higher.
Donna is passionate about making math both accessible and enjoyable. She has taken students to
Integral and Derivative Bees at Texas A&M University, where she has won the adult category multiple
times. She is especially proud of launching the first-ever Calculus program at a low-performing high
school in her area, with all of her students passing the AP Calculus exam.
Her professional recognitions include being listed in Who’s Who Among America’s High School Teachers,
being featured as a CTY instructor, and earning Teacher of the Month honors in public education. She
has also worked with local college tutoring services and ACT/SAT preparation programs.
As a teacher, Donna’s goal is simple: to help students succeed while developing confidence and
enjoyment in mathematics. She is committed to supporting students in every way possible.
What I am teaching now: Most recently, she served as an online AP Calculus instructor for
Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth (CTY) for five years.
About my family and me:
Outside the classroom, Donna enjoys playing the piano, tennis, and sewing. She has been married to her husband, Scott, for 37 years and has four grown children.
She will welcome her fifth grandchild in February of 2026. She also shares her home with two dogs—a Kooikerhondje named Tessa
and a Husky/Beagle mix named Calvin.

Parents tell me:
From a former college student: "She is a great professor, ensuring all her students understand the material for the course. I took Mrs. Miller's Math and left feeling prepared to continue my education. I continued to use her for outside tutoring, and I always left feeling confident in my Math skills."
From a former Pre-Calculus student: " I loved having Mrs. Miller as a math teacher. She was always calm, understanding, and supportive. Math has never been my strong suit, but she never made me feel incapable of learning, which helped me stay motivated even when it was challenging."
From a former AP Calculus student's parent: " Thank you so much for teaching our son this year. You were always responsive and gave great feedback. You were also very responsive to meeting with him. We feel the reason he got 5 this year was mostly that he had you as his teacher. Thanks again."
