About Mrs. Rodriguez
Hello! I would like to introduce myself and share a bit about my background as we begin the upcoming school year.
After graduating high school in Houston, I served in the United States Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard. Following my service, I earned my BBA in Accounting from Sam Houston State University and worked as a Certified Internal Auditor for thirteen years. I later returned to SHSU to transition into education, earning my teaching certification in mathematics. I spent five years teaching middle school before moving to the high school level to teach Algebra and Geometry. During that time, I also completed a Master’s Degree in Education Administration.
I retired from the classroom in 2023 and began tutoring at Sylvan Learning Center. In 2025, I joined the High School Math Live (HSML) community, and I feel very fortunate to continue my teaching journey here.
On a personal note, my husband and I live in a rural community north of Houston. He is a military veteran currently working in the civilian sector. We have five children and four grandchildren spread across Texas, Florida, and Maine. In my free time, I enjoy traveling to National and State Parks in our trailer, painting, water aerobics, and hiking.
I am looking forward to working with your child this year and am confident we will have a wonderful experience together.

What Parents Say About Me:
Mrs. Rodriguez is kind, encouraging and supportive.
Mrs. Rodriguez is thorough but clear. Instruction is concise and explained in a manner that is easily understandable.
My student has been doing very well in his class this year. This is our first year with HSML so I was curious how he would do transitioning to this from our previous homeschool curriculum. I was hoping he would be able to jump right in and that there wouldn’t be a learning gap and thankfully, this has been true! Mrs. Rodriguez gives helpful feedback as well as opportunities to ask questions in and out of class. He has always been pretty good at math but has not taken a class like this before, so I was not sure what to expect. Her communication with me has been great and it has been helpful for him to learn from her and to receive her feedback and grades.
The teacher teaches in a clear and friendly manner. She engages the learner and provides sufficient work to master the concepts. My daughter is motivated and inspired to learn with an engaging and patient teacher like Mrs. Rodriguez.
Clear explanations, encouraging notes for my student who isn't strong in math naturally.
Explains course material well for my student to understand.
Gentle approach and generally very kind.
Mrs. Rodriguez is always so patient and caring. My son consistently says how kind she is and loves being in her class. We will ask to have her again next year for Algebra 1:)
Their teacher this year explains concepts very well and gives excellent feedback to help them understand what is being taught.
I love that Mrs. Rodriguez is always willing to help my son. She is truly invested in the children’s success and offers help when needed. She has been very patient with my son as he adjusts to high school, and she also holds him accountable which is a huge help in teaching him independence and accountability. She has a great balance between supporting and encouraging and holding accountable. We appreciate her greatly.
I genuinely appreciate the communication. She set up parent teacher conferences and was very personable and knew my student. I also appreciate that she offered to stay after class if the students have more questions and want to ask 1-on-1.
