2019 Summer School
Pre-Pre-Algebra
(7th Grade Math)
Pre-Pre-Algebra Course Description
High School Math Live Pre-Pre Algebra uses the Glencoe Mathematics Course 2 textbook. This course is designed to help your student transition into a teacher-taught class with accountability and weekly grades. We don't just teach students to "get an answer" - we teach them to think mathematically and prepare them for Pre-Algebra and beyond! This course is appropriate for an on-level 7th grader or an honors 6th grader. (If a student plans to take Calculus I in high school, they should register for this class in the 6th grade.)
Topics include: decimal patterns, statistics/analyzing data, integers, linear equations and functions, fractions, decimals, percent, fractions, ratios and proportions, applying percent, probability, geometry and measurement, measuring two-dimensional figures, measuring three-dimensional figures.

How can I determine if my student will be successful in this summer course?
High School Math Live wants your student to be placed in the appropriate course so that they will be successful and challenged while learning the beauty of mathematics. We are asking that your student complete our "Pre-Pre-Algebra Course Preparedness" document which we believe will be a good indicator of whether your student is ready for this course. You will email your student's work to the teacher. Details are on the course preparedness document.
This summer class is for the student who has done well on the Course Preparedness Document and falls into one of the following situations.
This summer class is for the student who has done well on the Course Preparedness Document and falls into one of the following situations.
- Students who are highly capable in math and can handle the rigorous pace. These students find math to be very intuitive and would like to advance to upper level coursework at a faster pace.
- Students who have completed all or most of the course previously but not at a level that makes a parent confident that their student is ready to progress to the next course. This would be an excellent fast-paced review and gap-filler!
