What if my child needs help outside of class?
High School Math Live teachers are available in a number of ways.
- During class: Each class starts with an opportunity for students to ask questions about the assignment they were given during the last class.
- Between classes: Students can email or text their teacher with questions. Sometimes a picture of what they have done can receive an immediate response about where they went wrong or what they should do next.
- Extra one-on-one help: Teachers can come to class a few minutes early or stay in class a few minutes late in order to help a student to understand a concept that is troubling them. This is available to all students on a somewhat limited basis. If consistent help is needed, either due to an extended absence or because the student is not participating in the interactive opportunities during class, then the student will be referred to a tutor.
- Additional tutoring: HSML has a tutor (Debbie Jones) who is available to work with current students for a rate that is lower than our standard tutoring rates. (Courses up to and including Geometry - $30/hour, billable in 30 minute increments; Algebra II and above - $40/hour, billable in 30 minute increments.)
