## About Mrs. London

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!) and Master of Arts in Educational Media from Appalachian State University (go Mountaineers!) in North Carolina. I taught in North Carolina’s public school system for 29 years and currently hold a NC teaching certificate in secondary mathematics and certificate with National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. I taught Advanced Placement Calculus in the public school setting for 17 years with great student success in both AP® Calculus AB and AP® Calculus BC. 2019-2020 will be my fourth year teaching AP® Calculus AB with HSML!

I believe in the importance of unlocking the students’ natural desire to learn by fostering the development of critical thinking and modeling skills needed for life-long learning. John Wesley Young stated, “It is clear that the chief end of mathematical study must be to make the students think.” I believe a teacher is the student's personal coach for learning. I am here to support, help, encourage, motivate students to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of mathematics. I genuinely care about my students. I do expect high quality work from my students while providing effective and meaningful feedback alongside praises for diligence and hard work. I am absolutely thrilled to be part of the High School Math Live team. The best part is, even after retirement from the public schools, I get to continue to share my love of mathematics in our interactive and engaging classes. How awesome is life! I am truly blessed.

My husband, Charles, and I have just purchased a home in Reidsville NC. For the last three years, we experienced life as full time RV'ers traveling across the U.S. visiting National and State Parks. Each day was an adventure. We will continue traveling for a couple of months out of the year. My husband works full time, either remotely or travels to the business. We have two sons, both married with one living in Utah serving as a mechanical engineer in the United States Air Force and the other in North Carolina working in marketing data analytics.

## Students tell me:I was very wary going into AP Calculus AB, but now I can say that Mrs. London has made it one of my favorite classes I've taken in high school. She is incredibly thorough, patient, and student-focused. She takes seemingly complex and confusing concepts and teaches them in such a way that makes me feel confident doing them on my own.
This was my first time taking an online math class and I had a great experience taking Mrs. London’s Algebra 1 class. I was able to learn with complete understanding of the content. Mrs. London explains the math with clarity and knows how to break down and simplify more challenging concepts. She really helped me grow in math this year. She is an excellent teacher and is also very kind! Mrs. London's class has been the best math class I've ever taken. Not only has she helped me to learn calculus, but she's gone over and above and made it fun. Her tireless patience is always a blessing, especially when working through tough homework problems. Her encouragement for us to ask questions has made it less daunting to learn, and her explanations and lessons have always been clear and easy to understand. Mrs. London has been one of the best teachers I've had, and I'm thankful to be able to take her class. |
## Parents tell me:I have been very pleased with my daughter's AP Calculus class with Regina London. Regina is very organized, dependable, and communicates clearly with both myself and my daughter. My daughter has said she loves the class. For a busy home school mom, this is an ideal situation!
Coming from years of private school, then homeschooling for three years, I wasn’t sure what to expect from an online math class. However, Mrs. London’s math class was such an exceptional and positive experience for my children that we are re-enrolling for the upcoming school year. Mrs. London’s years of experience is evident in how she interacts with her students and introduces concepts to her classroom. She is patient, but also very direct and clear in what she is asking and expecting of her students. I appreciated how quickly she assessed whether students needed further explanation, or intuitively knew how to modify instruction to help solidify algebraic concepts. Her expertise was especially evident when she would occasionally make, what I call, “math bridges,” and explain to students how certain foundational concepts were imperative to understand and why they would see it again in higher levels of math. Mrs. London simply brings a “big picture” approach to math, and successfully teaches the details in a fun and nurturing learning environment. Grateful for Mrs. London and high school math live! If you want an organized, professional and relatable teacher with the most detailed feedback and incredible response time, then look no further. Mrs. London is knowledgeable, conscientious, and keeps the parent informed of any issues or problems the student may be having. She is very willing to help your child succeed. Mrs. London teaches in a way that makes a difficult subject (calculus) manageable and understandable. Her class is very well organized, and she is always ready to help her students learn. One of our favorites from 12 years of homeschooling! |
