About Mrs. London
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!) and Master of Arts in Educational Media from Appalachian State University (go Mountaineers!) in North Carolina. I taught in North Carolina’s public school system for 29 years and hold a NC teaching certificate in secondary mathematics with academically gifted, computer education, and instructional technology specialist endorsements. I also held a certificate with National Board for Professional Teaching Standards for 20 years. I taught Advanced Placement Calculus in the public school setting for 17 years with great student success in both AP® Calculus AB and AP® Calculus BC. 2024-2025 will be my 8th year with HSML!
For our 2024-2025 school year, I will be teaching Pre-Calculus, Honors Calculus I, AP® Calculus AB, and AP® Calculus BC. I am also the teacher for AMP Pre-Calculus, AMP Honors Calculus I, and AMP Honors Calculus II.
I believe in the importance of unlocking the students’ natural desire to learn by fostering the development of critical thinking and modeling skills needed for life-long learning. John Wesley Young stated, “It is clear that the chief end of mathematical study must be to make the students think.” I believe a teacher is the student's personal coach for learning. I am here to support, help, encourage, motivate students to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of mathematics. I genuinely care about my students. I do expect high quality work from my students while providing effective and meaningful feedback alongside praises for diligence and hard work. I am absolutely thrilled to be part of the High School Math Live team. The best part is, even after retirement from the public schools, I get to continue to share my love of mathematics in our interactive and engaging classes. How awesome is life! I am truly blessed.
My husband, Charles, and I live in Reidsville NC since 2019. The previous three years, we experienced life as full time RV'ers traveling across the U.S. visiting National and State Parks. Each day was an adventure. We will continue traveling for a couple of months out of the year. My husband works full time, either remotely or travels to the business. We have two sons, both married, with one living in California serving as a mechanical engineer in the United States Space Force and the other in North Carolina working in marketing/data analytics. We have three grandchildren, two in CA and one in NC and one more on the way!

Students tell me:I was very wary going into AP Calculus AB, but now I can say that Mrs. London has made it one of my favorite classes I've taken in high school. She is incredibly thorough, patient, and student-focused. She takes seemingly complex and confusing concepts and teaches them in such a way that makes me feel confident doing them on my own.
This was my first time taking an online math class and I had a great experience taking Mrs. London’s class. I was able to learn with complete understanding of the content. Mrs. London explains the math with clarity and knows how to break down and simplify more challenging concepts. She really helped me grow in math this year. She is an excellent teacher and is also very kind! Mrs. London's class has been the best math class I've ever taken. Not only has she helped me to learn calculus, but she's gone over and above and made it fun. Her tireless patience is always a blessing, especially when working through tough homework problems. Her encouragement for us to ask questions has made it less daunting to learn, and her explanations and lessons have always been clear and easy to understand. Mrs. London has been one of the best teachers I've had, and I'm thankful to be able to take her class. |
Parents tell me:Mrs. London can explain concepts very clearly and is super patient and helpful. My daughter feels that she can ask any question, because Mrs. London never gives her the feeling that it is a 'dumb' question; Mrs. London creates a very safe and encouraging learning environment. Tests and quizzes and graded very thoroughly. Preparation for AP is thorough, too. Because of Mrs. London my daughter feels competent and loves Math! I would definitely recommend Mrs. London to any student. In fact I have already done this.
Ms. London is the dream teacher you wished you had, and for sure the teacher you will remember and look back to when you are older. She will support you, work with you and do all she can to help your child succeed and feel confident in his/her work. Mrs. London explains concepts in an understandable way, makes good analogies, shows--not just tells--what she's describing, communicates well, and keeps class enjoyable and even entertaining. She's a wonderful teacher! Mrs. London is a wonderful teacher! Expectations are clear, she allows plenty of time for answering questions and helps students to be successful. She holds students to a high standard, but it is always very clear that she wants to help them succeed. Mrs. London is sweet and very kind in teaching AP Calculus; she is encouraging and supportive of her students. She cares and wants them to learn and succeed. She is organized and quick to respond. Mrs. London provides excellent communication and feedback to help students learn from their mistakes. She goes out of her way to allow students opportunities to be successful. Our child has commented several times on how much she enjoys this class! |
