Course Description:
High School Math Live Pre-Algebra uses the Glencoe Mathematics Pre-Algebra textbook. This course helps students transition into a teacher-taught class with accountability and weekly grades. We reinforce the concepts they have learned, increase comprehension, and begin teaching early algebraic concepts. We prepare students so that Algebra will make sense! Pre-Algebra is generally for honors-level 7th grade or on-level 8th grade students. If a student plans to take Calculus I in high school, they should register for this class in the 7th grade. Topics include: operations with integers, solving equations with integers, factors, operations with fractions/rational numbers, positive and negative exponents, scientific notation, ratios, proportions and percents, solving equations with rational numbers, solving inequalities and graphing solutions on the number line, functions, graphing linear equations, angle and triangle categorization, square roots, the Pythagorean Theorem, the Distance and Mid-Point formulas.
